Malaysia Trip Report Kuala Lumpur Tower (KL)

Scotty RAGErs and Sketchy ANDY finally got to jump KL! This is Part 3 of 4 of the trip that had too many videos, too much fun, too many jumps, and was over all too friggin awesome. The expenses we had to sacrifice for this experience ended up feeling like a small price to pay for excellence at the highest level.
We started off slowly, but right as we got comfortable with the building we realized how easy it was to get really hurt. Our goals changed from doing as many jumps as possible, to just making it home safely. We still did almost 200 jumps between the 2 of us. Sketchy made a ridiculous 141 jumps in the 11 day trip. For most people.. that is more jumps than possible in a solid year of jumping.
On the first day of the trip Sketchy took it into his own hands to sit down and write a proposal to the board of directors of KL tower to see what they thought of the initiative of a "Safety Ramp." The ramp was to be 3 meters wide, and as long as possible. It would make it easier to do jumps more safely, get funny jumps better organized, and even allow for video to be better recorded. By the beginning of the second day of jumping the ramp was built and ready for action, and saw more than 1000 jumps from its surface over the course of the trip. It also was used to create and launch Sketchy off of the first ever human powered BASEline. well... more of a human powered slackline to BASE jump haha.
Day three of the KL jumping, Gary Cunningham had somehow gotten the board to allow the crane used for window washing, for jumping. Sketchy of course showed up bright and early to investigate the crane's potential... with the first 2 hours of jumping there was already a highline and a rope swing rigged; both with the Andy Lewis Trickline from Gibbon (in stores 2013.) The highline and rope swing were both firsts on KL, and the rope swing got special attention from many of the jumpers. Swing BASE doesn't have too big of a following, but when there is such a massive tower, with such a beautiful rope swing... no one seemed to want turn down the opportunity.
The last day was the scariest because you are so close to not being able to jump the tower again, but also... you really don't want to get hurt when you have come so far without being injured. Needless to say we both made it home safely.
