Slackline

Gobble Gobble 2012

17. 11. 2019

Enjoy this short video about this year's Thanksgiving Slackline Festival in Moab, UT (otherwise known as GGBY). Despite some initial visits by a BLM ranger, and threats of turning the area shown here into a National Monument, we had a very fun week! Of the 5 years that the slackline community has been hosting this event, this year had the most people and the best weather. We rigged more than 10 highlines of different lengths and difficulties, and many BASE jumpers participated as well, making more than 30 jumps from the surrounding cliffs over the course of the week.

The desert, especially here at the Fruit Bowl, is a very unique and beautiful place. Waking up to the sunrise and following the moon across the sky at night above a campfire is a really spectacular experience. With the wonderful people, amazing musical instruments, and awe-inspiring atmosphere, the days went by overhead just as the slacklines went by under-foot. The beauty of mindful existence, moving meditation, and thankfulness for this place and this moment fully abounded. I'm so thankful that we were all able to share this wonderful experience, and I'm so glad to have spent a great week with both new and old friends. Thanks for watching and sharing :-)
