BUBUGO BANANA KAYAK SCHOOL

5. 5. 2021

Kayaking development project at the source of the White Nile in Bubugo village. BBKS is a charity kayak school located on the river bank of the mighty White Nile river, next to the famous Super Hole in rural Bubugo village, Uganda East Africa. And now here we are with a crowdfunding campaign to support young Ugandan kayakers! https://www.gofundme.com/f/spjjn-bana... The school has been successfully operating for the last two years and gives thirty local kids the opportunity to learn how to kayak. River and climate are offering world class conditions for freestyle kayaking. However, due to poverty and low income (in rural areas 1$ per day per adult worker) There is no way kids can afford the equipment or lesson fee. Thanks to our supportive local community back in Europe the project became known and big kayak brands and retailers also donated equipment. Currently the school has; six kayaks, six paddles and all the necessary equipment to make kayaking safe. We also cover the monthly cost of room rent for storing kayaking gear, and coach Bosco Kawereiku’s salary. During the first two years of the project we have been raising awareness and money for Bubugo Banana Kayak School (BBKS) at many events including film screenings in all continents except Antarctica, photography exhibitions, Kayak competitions and festivals. That helped us to keep afloat until now. Last year we filmed a documentary with BBKS. We are hoping the documentary will help us take the next step forward with our plan for the project.
