Scuba diving in Iceland - Silfra

12. 7. 2019

Iceland sits on the Mid-Atlantic ridge, where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet.
At this meeting point, tension is released through a major earthquake approximately every ten years. In these earthquakes, cracks and fissures are formed.
Silfra is one of the largest cracks and is feed by underwater wells which keep it from freezing over.

When visiting a good friend of mine at the start of winter in Iceland, I did this once in a life time dive.
